Run For Light 2020

A Run that Shines

In darkness, light provides the luminous vision for mankind. Mention ‘Light’ and some awe-inspiring related words like ‘innovation’, ‘philanthropy’, ‘leading’, ‘inspiration’, ‘well-being’, ‘joy’, ‘hope’, ‘connectivity’ and ‘future’ will spring to mind.

Together with our sponsors, partners and beneficiaries, ‘Run For Light’ has endeavoured to provide the passage of light for the people since its inception.

Be the beckoning LIGHT that shines warmth and compassion to our community.

Experience the Light without the Sight

Figure 5 has a special meaning in Run For Light event come 2020 for it’s our 5th edition. That said, Run For Light 2020 is scheduled on 22 Feb, Saturday at the iconic Punggol Waterway and also for the 5th consecutive time, it is in support of Guide Dog Singapore Limited (GDS) where partial proceeds are pledged. This is jointly organized by Ideas Room Consulting Pte Ltd and Punggol North CSC.

For those who love to soak in the atmosphere but want a leisure run, there is 5KM fun run. For the adrenaline-driven ones, join the competitive 10KM run.

Since it’s RFL 5th edition, all participants will be rewarded with the uniquely designed 5th edition tee and the neon yellow event run tee. Also, don’t miss out the return ferry ticket to Batam. There are many fabulous giveaways in the goodie bags too.

Participation

The 2020 edition will see a new category introduced, the “Ekiden 5KM Challenge”.   Other categories are the symbolic 1KM blindfold walk, 5KM fun run and 10KM individual run.   The “Ekiden 5KM Challenge” and 10KM run are timed categories and podium winners will win cash & trophies.

What is “Ekiden 5KM Challenge”?  Since it’s RFL 5th edition, this is a team challenge which needs 5 runners to form a team and each runner doing a 5KM run to complete a total 25KM distance.  First runner of the team will be handed a sash which has to be passed to the second runner upon completing his or her 5KM run until the 5th or last runner has completed the final 5KM.  The gun time taken from the sash will determine the fastest team of the day.  The team can comprise of the same gender or mixed gender.  The fastest team will be crowned the champion.

The 1KM blindfold walk resonates very much to the sacred mission of Guide Dogs Singapore Limited (GDS) to help the visually impaired enhanced their quality of life.  Participants for this category will get to experience walking while being blindfolded over a 1KM distance and they will soon learn to empathise with the visually impaired people.
